Hi friends!
I couldn’t be more excited to share that I’ve officially launched a Mindfulness Kit that includes a daily mindfulness practice guide and four aromatherapy-based products, as well as three free digital bonuses that expand on a few of the practices in the guide.
Why This Kit—with Aromatherapy Products?
Over the years I’ve written five books and launched and eCourse, but this time I adamantly wanted to create and offer something completely different.
As a writer, I’m often in my head. Most of us are—always reading articles, emails, and social media posts that reflect people’s varied thoughts and opinions. It’s a beautiful thing to connect and share information, but sometimes the world can feel loud and overwhelming.
I don’t know about you, but I often long for more time grounded in my body and less time caught up in my mind. I long to disconnect from abstract ideas that often flood my brain and connect with the tangible—things I can hold and touch and enjoy with my senses.
I find scent in particular to be especially powerful. The olfactory nerve is directly linked to the part of the brain that accesses memory, mood, and emotions, which is why certain smells can affect us so profoundly.
They can calm us, energize us, and evoke our happiest memories. And yet they also encourage us to live in the moment, since we naturally take deep breaths to fully enjoy our favorite scents.
Life can get pretty stressful sometimes, and there’s a lot we can’t control. But our breathing—that’s always within our control. We can always choose to breathe deeply, ground ourselves in our body, and create a little calm amidst life’s chaos.
Why These Specific Products?
I thought carefully about the products I wanted to include in this kit, and ultimately decided on the four listed below for the following reasons:
A Soothing Bath and Shower Gel
Anyone who knows me knows my tub is my happy place. It’s my little cocoon away from the world, my space to reflect, relax, and recharge. Whether I’m reading a trashy magazine or true crime book, practicing deep breathing, or coming up with creative ideas, I’m always at peace in the tub. And when I don’t have time for a bath (the horror!) I make my shower mindful to help me start my day with a sense of peace and presence.
I decided to make this a lavender-scented product so you too can turn your tub into a little sanctuary of comfort and calm. Whether you have five minutes to shower or forty-five minutes to soak, this Soothing Bath and Shower Gel can help elevate the experience.
A Calming Essential Oil Roll-On
Lavender is known to help reduce stress and anxiety, so I decided to use this scent for the Calming Essential Oil Roll-On and Relaxing Pillow Spray as well. The beauty of an essential oil roll-on is that it’s a small but mighty—you can carry it with you at all times and apply it to your wrists, temples, or behind your ears for instant relief.
I consider my roll-on a crucial tool not only for mental and emotional wellness, but also for peaceful relationships.
If someone triggers me and I’m tempted to respond in a knee-jerk reaction, I pause, step away, apply my roll-on, then take a few deep breaths before reacting. Sometimes. Sometimes I lash out, cry, and say things I don’t mean or regret. (I’m a work in progress!) But I try to do the former more often than not, and I’m always happier with myself for doing it!
A Relaxing Pillow Spray
Especially during a pandemic, good sleep is critical. Solid sleep strengthens our immune system, helps with sound decision-making, and improves our mental health. But with everything going on in the world, it may feel even harder to get a good night’s rest.
I personally have long struggled with falling asleep. Many nights my brain feels like a million ping pong balls volleying back and forth while dozens of different movie soundtracks play simultaneously.
When I spray my Relaxing Pillow Spray, I’m pulled back into my body through my senses, and I feel more and more at ease with each deep, lavender-scented inhalation.
If you too feel restless whenever it’s time to go to bed, this Relaxing Pillow Spray can help you wind down and doze off peacefully.
A Lychee Flower Scented Candle
I actually considered making this a lavender-scented candle, but then decided to mix things up with an uplifting scent that’s known to help energize and improve focus.
As you’ll see on the mindfulness daily practice guide, I recommend lighting your lychee flower scented candle as part of a morning intention-setting practice. I find it’s a great way to start the day uplifted and empowered to make the most of the hours ahead.
The Freebies
In addition to the products and the daily practice guide, you’ll also receive access to three free digital bonuses:
- How to Make Your Shower Mindful, Blissful, and Rejuvenating
- 5 Breathing Exercises to Calm and Focus Your Mind
- How to Do a Bedtime Body Scan for a Peaceful Night Sleep
With the help of these three detailed guides, you’ll be able to use your Tiny Buddha products to create mindful moments morning, noon, and night!
What Else You Need to Know
All of the products within the kit are natural and cruelty-free, and 5% of the proceeds will go to This Is My Brave, a non-profit that brings stories of mental illness and addiction out of the shadows and into the spotlight.
Pre-pandemic, This Is My Brave focused on live shows, featuring touching essays, original music, poetry, and comedy. At the current time, they’ve shifted gears to the virtual world, but they’ll be back onstage as soon as it’s safe to do so!
As someone who’s struggled with depression and bulimia—who knows the power of vulnerable, authentic sharing—I couldn’t be more thrilled to support this powerful non-profit. And also, I love, love, love the performance element. I’m an artist at heart, and I know from personal experience how creativity enables us to heal and shine.
If you’d like to bring a little peace and calm into your life, you can grab a Tiny Buddha Mindfulness Kit here. I hope you enjoy these products as much as I enjoyed creating them!
